Research Department contributes to SRU Discussion Paper
The discussion paper by the German Advisory Council on the Environment (SRU) presents 16 theses from different scientific perspectives that deal with the necessity, conditions, conflicts and questions of justice associated with sufficiency strategies.
The SRU publishes regularly on various environment-related topics and advises the German government on environmental policy issues. For this paper, the Council commissioned Bernd Sommer and Jonas Lage to contribute their social science perspective in theses 11 and 12, in which they argue to what extent a cultural change is both the prerequisite and the result of sufficiency policy and why sufficiency can also function as a component of a successful life.
With this paper, the SRU is inviting stakeholders from politics, civil society, science and economy to discuss sufficiency strategies. A public online event is planned for April 29, 2024. Further information can be found here.
