CfP Conference "The Ecological Bootprint: Apprehending the Military-Environmental Nexus"

From March 17 to 19, 2026, the conference "The Ecological Bootprint: Apprehending the Military-Environmental Nexus" will take place at the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society (RCC) in Munich. The event aims to critically examine the interconnections between the military and the environment. Drawing on various disciplines, perspectives, and temporal dimensions, it seeks to discuss methods and analytical frameworks for understanding the military footprint and the impacts of military activities on humans and the more-than-human.
The organizing team consists of Kerrin Langer and Bernd Sommer (both TU Dortmund), Christof Mauch (Rachel Carson Center), Zsuzsanna Ihar (Max Planck Institute for the History of Science) and Frank Reichherzer (Bundeswehr Centre of Military History and Social Sciences).
