Two new publications by Marcel Sebastian on transformation conflicts in agriculture and cultural ambivalences in slaughtering have been published by Transcript Verlag

In his contribution "Tierkörper im Schlachthof – Kulturelle Ambivalenzen der öffentlichen Wahrnehmung von Schlachtungen" [Animal Bodies in the Slaughterhouse – Cultural Ambivalences in the Public Perception of Slaughter], Marcel Sebastian examines the extent to which practices of handling animal bodies in slaughterhouses are culturally perceived as "extreme". He discusses what the common perception of slaughter as an "extreme" yet everyday practice reveals about the cultural label "extreme". The article is published in the edited volume "Extreme Körper. Eine soziologische Zeitdiagnose" (edited by Thorsten Benkel and Robert Gugutzer).

In "Social-Ecological Transformation Conflicts over Agriculture – A Theoretical Differentiation of Contested Conflict Goods", he proposes a theoretical differentiation of social-ecological transformation conflicts in agriculture based on contested conflict goods. The contribution appears in the open-access edited volume "Agrarwissen in der Reflexion. Sozial- und kulturwissenschaftliche Perspektiven auf die Transformation von Landwirtschaft" (edited by Anna Henkel, Matthias Kussin, Holli Gruber, Katrin Hirte, and Laura Scheler).
